Best Cafés in Newquay: Local Coffee Spots You’ll Actually Love

Best Cafés in Newquay: Local Coffee Spots You’ll Actually Love

Newquay has quietly built one of the best café scenes in Cornwall and most visitors have no idea.

I grew up here, and after living in Australia and New Zealand (where good coffee is basically a lifestyle), I came home pleasantly surprised by just how good Newquay’s coffee scene has become.

The town is now full of independent cafés that reflect the local surf culture, wellness scene, and slow-living coastal vibe. Think proper flat whites, great brunch menus, and laid-back beachside spots you actually want to linger in.

Here’s my local guide to the best cafés in Newquay – the ones I always go back to and recommend to friends and family when they visit.

Best Cafés in Newquay

1. Nalu

A personal favourite, Nalu is small but has the perfect laid-back vibe you’d expect from Newquay. They always deliver great coffee, and their drink menu often includes seasonal specials too, like pumpkin spice lattes in autumn.

The food is just as good also, with their signature poke bowl being a personal favourite.

You’ll find Nalu tucked away in a quiet corner opposite Aldi.

Fore Street Café is one of those places that’s always draws a crown and for good reason. It’s known for great coffee, a cosy vibe, and a really solid brunch menu.

They also do some fun alternative drinks alongside the classics, like charcoal and turmeric lattes and other seasonal specials.

Top tip: try to grab one of the window seats. It’s the best spot in the café and perfect for a slow coffee or brunch date.

3. Box & Barber

Box & Barber is hugely popular with both locals and tourists. It’s one of those cafés where you’ll always find a mix of people perched with laptops, chatting over coffee, or grabbing a post-ocean swim cappuccino.

Their breakfast burrito is a standout and well worth ordering if you’re hungry.

It has a proper surf-culture café vibe that feels very Newquay… laid-back, friendly, and the kind of place you’ll want to keep coming back to.

4. House of Glass

House of Glass is a small independent coffee shop that serves some of the best barista coffee in town. It’s the place to go if you genuinely care about good coffee.

They also have a small selection of baked goods, which are perfect alongside a flat white. The space inside is quite small, so it’s ideal for a coffee date or grabbing a takeaway rather than settling in for hours.

Personally, I love picking up a coffee here and sitting outside in the sun after a morning dip in the sea.

Sprout feels like more than just a café, it’s a little wellness hub in the heart of Newquay. Alongside the café, they also have a health store, which adds to the whole feel-good, slow-living vibe.

It has a really friendly, relaxed atmosphere and a cute courtyard out the back that’s perfect on a sunny day.

They offer a range of speciality drinks alongside great coffee, including ceremonial cacao and other wellness-style lattes. They’re also known for their signature Sprout pots, which are fresh, filling, and ideal if you’re after something healthy.

It’s a great option if you’re vegan or gluten free, and they use organic and locally sourced produce where possible.

6. Blend

Blend is a must if you’re visiting Newquay in summer. With their slogan “Bali in the Bay,” it’s easy to see what they’re going for and honestly, they nail it.

They’re a smoothie bar rather than a traditional café, and they’re especially known for their colourful smoothie bowls, which are perfect after a swim or a long beach walk.

They also offer matcha and a few other speciality drinks, making it a great stop if you’re not in the mood for coffee.

With a café in town and a pop-up truck in the Lusty Glaze car park, it’s super easy to grab something on the go while exploring the coast.

Best for: smoothie bowls, summer vibes

Saltd has a really fun surf aesthetic and is one of the most family-friendly cafés in Newquay. It’s the kind of place I always recommend if you want a proper Newquay café experience but without stressing about bringing kids along.

They even have a little play corner for children, which makes it a brilliant option for families who still want to enjoy good coffee and brunch in peace.

The menu is great too, with a nice selection of brunch dishes, coffee, and baked goods. Personally, I always go for the avocado toast it’s simple, but done really well.

SeaSpace is slightly out of town, but it’s definitely worth popping in. It has a great aesthetic and a really fun, lifestyle vibe that makes it a favourite with locals and guests.

It’s part of SeaSpace Aparthotel, meaning they offer gym access and wellness classes, which is a nice bonus if you want to combine your coffee stop with something a bit more active or mindful.

Personally, I love coming here for a coffee with a side of porridge for breakfast.

9. Pavilion

Pavilion is more of a bakery than a traditional café, but it absolutely deserves a spot on this list, serving great coffee and freshly-baked treats.

It’s a great place for a takeaway coffee and something sweet (or savoury) to enjoy by the beach or on a coastal walk. Personally, I love stopping in to pick up a fresh loaf of sourdough – delicious!

10. Wave House Cafe

Wave House Café is one of the most unique café spots in Newquay. It’s set inside a church, which makes it a really cool and unexpected place to grab a coffee.

It’s also a brilliant spot if you’re looking to get some work done. The space is relaxed, laptop-friendly, and perfect for settling in with a coffee for an hour or two.

There’s a really warm, inclusive feel to the place, and it genuinely feels like a little hidden gem away from the main Newquay buzz.
